Mobility of cations and guest compounds in cesium-exchanged and impregnated zeolites Y and X investigated by high-temperature MAS NMR spectroscopy
Article Abstract:
The mobility of sodium and cesium ions in dehydrated zeolites Y and X in the sodium form, after exchange with cesium cations and after impregnation with cesium hydroxide is studied by applying high-temperature 23Na and 133Cs magic-angle spinning (MAS) NMR spectroscopy. Results indicate that modern high-temperature MAS NMR spectroscopy makes it possible to study the mobility of extraframework cations and guest atoms in basic zeolites at temperatures.

Hydrated [Cs.sup.+]-exchanged MFI zeolites: Location and population of [Cs.sup.+] cations and water molecules in hydrated Cs6.6MFI from in and ex situ powder X-ray diffraction data as a function of temperature and other experimental conditions
Article Abstract:
The dehydrated, Cs-exchanged MFI zeolites to hydrated analogues is investigated to determine the crystal structures of members of the Cs6.6H0.3-MFI.xH2O series, for 0 less than x less than 28, from synchrotron-radiation powder diffraction data. The results have shown that the main factor responsible for the flexibility of the MFI framework is the presence of the Cs[(H2O).sub.n] clusters residing in, or close to, the straight channel double 10-rings.

State of aluminum in dealuminated nonhydrated zeolites Y investigated by multinuclear solid-state NMR spectroscopy
Article Abstract:
The state of aluminum atoms in dealuminated and nonhydrated zeolites Y is investigated by a combination of different methods of solid-state NMR spectroscopy. The mean cationic charge per extraframework aluminum atom in nonhydrated zeolites Y was found to depend on the strength of steaming.
